STÜSSY x PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN COLLAB ON FIRE JERSEY

Published

on

California-based brand Stüssy are linking up with Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain to drop a collaborative jersey to celebrate the launch of their new store in the city of Paris this week.

Collaborations are nothing new to Les Parisiens, whose partnership with the Jordan brand has now become one of the most iconic football x fashion link-ups of all time.

Though the jersey won’t be worn by the likes of Kylian Mbappé on the pitch, it is exclusively available for fans and fashion heads to purchase at the newly-launched store in Paris (44 Rue du Temple, Paris, France, 75004) on Friday 18th February.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side currently sit at the top of France’s top-flight above the chasing Marseille and Nice. The arrival of Lionel Messi last summer has yet to have the impact the club was wishing for, leaving hopes of clinching the prestigious Champions League title on the shoulders of Mbappé and Neymar unless the Argentine can regain his form.

Manchester City’s Jack Grealish is set to become a Gucci ambassador in a seven-figure deal with the Italian brand less than a year after he became the most expensive British player in Premier League history.

Grealish, who has also donned pieces from brands such as Dior, Louis Vuitton and Chrome Hearts across his social media, was snapped wearing Gucci GG shorts alongside Stormzy at Leeds Festival back in August.

The story, originating from The Athletic’s David Ornstein, will come as no surprise with Gucci among other high-end fashion brands attempting to tap into the recent surge in interest for football x fashion by Gen-Z.

City teammate Raheem Sterling has recently worked with CLARKS whilst Kylian Mbappé has recently become a global ambassador for Dior and Oakley.

Grealish’s move to the Etihad was rumoured to have been partly due to City’s interest in bringing in a face of the club given the 26-year-old’s popularity among the younger generation of fans, most notable during England’s EURO 2020 campaign, and the latest news will only aid that.

Having previously released a clothing range with BoohooMAN, Grealish will now set his sights on high-end fashion with Gucci in what won’t be the last football x fashion link-up we see in the near future.

Barcelona’s Memphis Depay has just become the newest addition in PUMA’s rise as one of the hottest brands in football right now.

As well as becoming a global ambassador for the brand, the Dutchman is set to have the chance to collaborate on his own collection later this year – a key part of his decision to sign.

Known for being more than just an athlete, Memphis’ love for music and fashion has made him one of the most interesting characters in the game. In 2020, the 28-year-old dropped his clothing brand BADTTW (Blind and Deaf to the World)  before releasing his first album, ‘Heavy Stepper’, just one month later.

Explaining his decision in an interview with Complex, Memphis said: “I see what Puma was doing, like supporting the athletes on-field and off-field. And for me, that’s super interesting, because I feel like they are a brand that are free, like have an open mindset. Really looking at a player like, like OK, what is he capable of? And for me, that’s interesting, because I do a lot of stuff off-field as well. So in my vision, that is the right step for me right now.”

PUMA’s Global Director of Sports Marketing and Sports Licensing, Johan Adamsson revealed the thinking behind approaching Memphis, saying: “We believe Memphis is a generational talent. He is widely recognized as one of football’s top stars in and outside of the game.”

“Fast on and fast off the pitch, Memphis perfectly reflects PUMA’s Faster Football movement. Taking risks and defying convention to shape football culture on and off the pitch, breaking down barriers and driving positive change not only in football but in the community through his various initiatives with a fearless attitude,” Adamsson added.

On the pitch, the Barça forward is set to rock Puma’s Ultra 1.3. With nine goals and two assists in seventeen appearances in La Liga this season, the former Lyon star will be hoping to continue his goalscoring form into double figures before bringing us the lifestyle range collaboration we’re waiting for!
