Nike are running it back with the return of the Nike Mercurial Vapor 1 and Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho is making sure the game is aware.

Ahead of the first leg of United’s Europa League knockout clash with Real Sociedad, Garnacho was captured by photographer Konrad Borzy wearing Nike Mercurial Vapor 1 RGN SE’s – which retail at £254.99 – sparking conversation online as the streets have long awaited the return of Nike’s most iconic boot.

Originally worn by Cristiano Ronaldo as he made his professional debut as a 17-year-old, the Vapor 1 has been updated with the colours the Portuguese superstar wore that day and a thin synthetic upper and Air Zoom cushioning, the brand say.

Ronaldo – a key inspiration in Garnacho’s rise to the elite level of football – was the first player to celebrate with the Argentine as he scored his first United goal against none other than Real Sociedad.

Whether or not that was behind Nike’s thinking behind releasing the boot ahead of the 20-year-old’s return to Spain remains to be seen but with Ruben Amorim’s side in desperate need of inspiration, a rejuvenated Garnacho in Mercurial regens could be exactly what is needed to get the club back on track.

You can watch Manchester United’s Europa League clash with Real Sociedad at 5:45pm (U.K time) on TNT Sports.

Nike Reveal Erling Haaland’s New Signature Phantom 6 Low

Published

Nike have just announced the launch of Erling Haaland’s new signature boot, designed for the attacker who thrives under pressure.

The Erling Haaland Nike Phantom 6 Low is designed to fuel the game’s most explosive attackers, cultivating a mindset that makes them unstoppable. Not just for those on the professional stage, but equally amongst the new generation of attackers.

Since rising to prominence in Norway, the Manchester City attacker has become the fastest footballer in history to reach 300 goals, and this boot epitomises the striker’s drive to score as many goals as possible.

Designed with Nike’s best-in-class Phantom 6 innovations coupled with Erling’s inner fire, the boot debuts Erling’s personal Nike logo — a storm of nines spiralling outwards, not only paying homage to his jersey number, but a reminder that he is at the heart of the storm, an ever-present threat.

The campaign is centered around the message “Too Big to Miss,” a nod to Erling’s dominance in the game, both physically and statistically, while also reiterating how far ahead he is of the competition. Towering over defenders and expectations alike, both the boot and the campaign reinforce Erling and Nike’s joint commitment, encouraging everyone to push the limits of what’s possible in football.

The Nike Phantom 6 Low Erling Haaland Player Edition will be available at select retail locations on August 18, before launching globally at nike.com and additional retail locations on August 21.

Nike have just revealed the latest version of the Nike Phantom boot, the Phantom 6. Specially curated based on insights from footballers across all levels of the game around the globe, including Erling Haaland and Alexia Putellas, Nike relished the opportunity to use data to drive their latest iteration.

Designed with precision in mind, the boot features a new Tuned Gripknit upper and an improved Cyclone 360 plate, giving players an unparalleled ability to manipulate the ball with accuracy and unpredictability all over the pitch.

While the Phantom 6 High and Low versions share the latest technology, the laces on the High model are covered with additional Gripknit, giving players even more ability to ball out with total precision.

For the first time, Nike will incorporate the innovative microtextured grip on both boots from the Elite model across the Pro and Academy models — signalling their commitment to delivering game-change precision to all athletes.

The new Phantom 6 silhouette is inspired by the legacy of the iconic Hypervenom, with the bold colour-blocking and striking textures epitomising the rebelliousness and unpredictability synonymous with the Phantom attacker. Determined to stand out and be feared on the pitch, the design recreates the edge and attitude that appeals to athletes who want to make a difference with the utmost precision.

The Nike Phantom 6 High and Low will be available in Elite, Pro, and Academy models on June 12 at nike.com and select retail locations.
